Jeffrey Van Slyke, Ed.D., Director of Public Safety

Prior to arriving as Director of Public Safety at Georgetown University in June 2008, Jeff Van Slyke served as Chief of Police at the University of Mississippi. While at UM, he completed his dissertation and earned a Doctorate of Education (Ed. D.) in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and maintained a 4.0 GPA. His dissertation topic was Police Ethics Training: Preferred Modes of Teaching in Higher Education Law Enforcement.

Whit Chaiyabhat, M.Sc., M.A., CBCP, Director, Emergency Management and Operational Continuity

Whit Chaiyabhat joined the Office of University Safety in September 2007. He is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to the Vice President of University Safety in the areas of emergency management and operational continuity planning. Prior to joining the Office of University Safety, Chaiyabhat served as a Security Specialist and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Critical Mission Assurance Unit (CMAU).
