The Department of Emergency Management & Operational Continuity is designed to provide the structure to guide Georgetown University and its various stakeholders in preparing, preventing, mitigating, responding and recovering from an emergency or disaster.  The emergency management plan serves as the overall effort to integrate and cultivate collaboration between relevant university initiatives and programs.

An ongoing process to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from a usually unforeseen incident that threatens life, property, operations, and/or the environment.	An ongoing process to identify potential risks that threaten an organization and provides a framework for building resilience with the capability for an effective responses to safeguard the interests, mission and business processes of the organization.
